Why we built this
We believe parents and providers should be on the same side — informed, honest, and transparent. Licensing records exist to protect children, but they only work if families can actually see them — and a child care center isn't required to tell you about its past violations when you're choosing care. Only the most serious sanction — an order of conditional license, plus any maltreatment finding attached to it — has to be posted on-site (for two to four years). Everyday correction orders and fines don't, and the full record sits on a state website most parents never check. That leaves a void between what the state knows and what parents know. Childcare Alerts closes it — making these public records easy to search, understand, and monitor across 14 states. Better transparency between families, operators, and the state is better for everyone, especially kids.
How it works
Find any of 73,354 licensed providers across 14 states, free.
Add the centers your family relies on to your watchlist.
We email you the moment a new public licensing record is posted.
Childcare Alerts is an independent service — not affiliated with any state agency in the states we cover. We surface public records from official state sources. We do not inspect, rate, or certify the safety of any provider. The official government record always controls, and the absence of a record is not a guarantee of safety.
