A complaint was received on December 29, 2021, regarding an allegation of drug use by an employee during child care hours. An investigation was conducted, beginning on December 29, 2021, and ending on January 4, 2022. There is no evidence to substantiate that a male employee sat in his car to use drugs during his break, before returning to work in the center. Ms. Catka interviewed two employees who had no knowledge that an employee used drugs. Regional Director Tammy Ketterer spoke with the owners about the allegations and the three of them conducted an internal investigation. They found no evidence of actual drug use.

On October 26, 2021, Licensing Specialist Mary Catka conducted an unannounced visit to the center to investigate the complaint. Ms. Catka met with Administrator Kamacia Richardson and Staff #2. Ms. Catka asked if an unqualified staff was ever left alone with children in the classrooms. Ms. Richardson said only at nap times were certified early childhood interns ever left alone with sleeping children, per Delacare regulations. Ms. Catka asked about how the staff ensures that maximum group sizes are maintained in the gathering room in the morning and the evening.
